Welcome
to Freakin' Deacon Productions!
Please take a moment to read about my
experiences and talents in the art and entertainment industry. While
my experiences are varied, I am focusing on providing illustrations of the
Myrtle Beach and coastal areas to the general public, as well as custom
drawings. Read on, and
email
me!

|
My love of the coastal region
began when I landed in Myrtle Beach, SC right after high school in
1968. I attended Marshall University in my home town, Huntington, West Virginia,
and later pulled a stint in the US Coast Guard. |
|
|
My start in the entertainment
industry was booking rock and roll groups and traveling across the
U.S. with them. I landed back in the Myrtle Beach area in 1977, and
thus landed in the radio
industry with WKZQ. Somewhere along the line, someone once
referred to me as a Renaissance Man. And, I suppose I am since I
have a wide variety of interests and have a certain level of
expertise. That is, except for golf. Although I live in
the golf capital of the world, I can't play putt-putt much less golf! |
|
|
My knack for spinning records and filling radio airtime with
chatter has allowed me to be a radio personality on the Grand Strand for 25 years. I perform Stand Up Comedy and Impressions
and emcee local functions. Moonlighting as character actors in Television, Commercials and Motion Pictures,
performing Voice-Overs, and writing and recording novelty songs are
all activities that I enjoy. An appearance in a music video with Alabama,
who are good friends of mine, was a highlight in my career. |
|
|
But, my fondest memories are being inducted into the
Carolina's Beach Music Hall of Fame in 1998, and being named the 1983 Billboard Magazine Personality of the Year.
And, I have won numerous commercial, national and regional production
awards |
|
|
In the late '70's, I drew the caricature for Dick Biondi's
Super Gold Rock 'N Roll Show, a syndicated radio show across the U.S.
More recently, I drew the illustrations for
the upcoming children's CD by Diamond
Dave Summerville called "The Cosmic Adventures of Diamond Dave in
Dreamland" former Lead Singer for The Diamonds. I also designed
and drew the promotional poster for
Karl Slover, first trumpeter, one of the Munchkins of the Wizard of Oz. I have
also drawn the
logos for various independent businesses in
the southern region over the years. |
